Our team
Hi, I am Sharon and I am passionate about supporting people to overcome mental health challenges and to become the best version of themselves. My main approaches are mindfulness-based interventions and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I currently deliver one-to-one and group sessions using CBT or Mindfulness-Based CBT.
My husband introduced me to mindfulness when he announced that Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is the treatment recommended by The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence for recurrent depression in the UK, I was compelled to learn more, and my mindfulness journey began.
My husband and I joined a local mindfulness group and we have been practicing together for over thirteen years. I have spent the last five years studying for a Masters in Mindfulness-Based Approaches and teaching qualifications at Bangor University. I took this journey because it never ceases to amaze me the difference mindfulness-based programmes can make to the participants.
My husband’s comment about mindfulness took my life on an incredible journey for which I will always be grateful. Whilst studying at the University of Bangor I had the privilege of meeting many knowledgeable and inspiring people, which is where I met Lou. We clicked instantly and I felt as if I had known her for most of my life. I feel privileged to be sharing the next stage of my mindful journey with Lou. Together Lou and I will provide you with a safe place to learn skills and strategies to overcome life’s challenges, stress, anxiety, depression, and control of pain so that you can lead a better and more balanced life
I am qualified to deliver the first-generation mindfulness-based programmes, MBCT for depression and MBSR for stress reduction. All other mindfulness-based programmes are based on the first-generation programmes. MBCT and MBSR have been the focus of many research papers looking at the individual benefits for participants of the programmes. My training also focuses on assessing my adherence to Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI:TAC) and best practice, which was created, and is updated by Bangor, Oxford, and Exeter Universities.
.
I am also fortunate to share my private work with our family pet Jasper (a trained therapy dog). I use Jasper in my private one-to-one sessions with both adults and children. Jasper and I also work with students, at the University of Cambridge who have an Autistic Spectrum Condition diagnosis.
