What Is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is not Buddhism and it is not a fad.  Currently mindfulness is taught in the workplace, schools, colleges, universities, prisons, NHS, Houses of Parliament - pretty much everywhere.  The UK’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), recommends mindfulness and meditation as a frontline treatment for certain conditions.  It is also life enhancing for those living busy and stressful lives who feel they have more to offer.

Mindfulness teaches you how to rely upon your own inner resources so that you are able to cultivate a different relationship between yourself and everyday things that challenge you.

Scientific research shows the significant benefits of Mindfulness Programmes such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) can be:
  • Reduction in the effect of psychological stress and an improvement in emotional regulation so that you can cope with difficult emotions such as frustration, anxiety, and anger.
  • Reduction in the adverse response to pain and our emotional reaction to it.  Thus improving your mood and quality of life in chronic pain conditions such as dystonia, fibromyalgia, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and cancer.
  • Improvement in and strengthening of your immune system.
  • Enhancement of your working memory, attention span which increases creativity, problem solving, attention to detail and emotional resilience.
  • Moderation of the impact of loneliness which is a significant risk factor for health difficulties, particularly in the vulnerable and elderly.
  • Improvement in the control of blood sugars in Type 2 Diabetes.  Mindfulness has played a significant role in Sharon’s personal journey of bringing her Type 2 Diabetes into full remission.
  • Transformation of your relationship with food.
